A Movement Built, by Stepping Together..
In 2017, I embarked on a personal journey to train for and tackle self-designed extreme walking challenges, pushing myself physically and mentally to raise awareness and funds for causes important to me, particularly mental health.
Some of these extreme walks I have undertaken include: ( see images below)
- 95km (20-hour) non-stop walk from Wollongong to Sydney.
- 125km (24-hour) non-stop walk around the Nepean River. (River Walk) Penrith
- 130km (24-hour) non-stop walk from Katoomba to Manly (see Channel 7 News Story Below)
- 160km (30-hour- 206,000-step) non-stop walk around the Blacktown Olympic Park Athletic Stadium.
- Upcoming Virtual Challenge ( Oct 2024): 55km a day for 7 days- Click Here for Details and to Join me
The most profound impact on me has come not from any personal achievement, or from the significant funds that have been raised for charities but from the incredible sense of community that has emerged around these walks.
Family, friends, and even complete strangers, have volunteered, joined in, shared stories, and we have built resilience and mental well-being together. An amazing community has emerged without this ever being my intention.
This journey has evolved into something much bigger than myself – Step Into Action.
Step Into Action is a preventative movement dedicated to promoting mental well-being. Our walking challenges and festivals are designed to foster resilience and community, two vital components for building long-term mental health.
By joining Step Into Action, you're not just walking – you're becoming part of our movement. You're contributing to a future where mental wellness is prioritised, understood, and supported. You're helping to build a community where no one walks alone in their struggles.
